OCTOBER ART CHALLENGES

THEY'RE HEEEERE!!!

Day 1 - Spooky Intro

Long awaited for and loved by many, the art challenges of October have begun! They started many years ago and have grown in popularity so now we have SO many people hosting them! I don't know if INKTOBER was the first art challenge or not, but I believe it may have been, I'll do more research and try to find out. MAB GRAVES and her 'club' have one, she is so creative and brilliant!!

MABSDRAWLLOWEENCLUB25

Because of the way Instagram works, we have to tag our artwork a certain way and Mab came up with this code. The first day was tagged with a hashtag and then the call letters of what it is, (Mab's Drawlloween Club) the year and then what day it is. So day one went like this: #mdwc25d1 and since the first day was 'Spooky Intro' you also made a tag like this: #mdwc25d1spookyintro. This way we can all see what everyone else is creating right away, the algorithm isn't all messed up and it is so handy! I love viewing what everyone is creating and I follow new artists that I discover this way too.

Day 2 - My Familiar

Every year I swear I'm going to paint with real paint and make art that perhaps I could sell, like maybe 8" x 10" or ACEO size (2.5" x 3.5") or make greeting cards and sell them in lots of 10. Or, maybe do some clay work, sewing or some other fun craft. That is my goal, my personal art challenge. I've been doing digital art for so long now, I don't know if I can paint, draw or do anything crafty without the computer! For sure I'd like to embroider something, so that will be a fun challenge! I should check out the prompt list and start it soon, maybe I'll embroider a mushroom, for day 19.

Day 3 - Witch

My Frunsi android tablet has an art program installed called SKETCHBOOK and it's pretty good actually. It has a lot of nice tools, good paint brushes, pencils, chalk, charcoal, textures and air sprayers. I can purchase the premium version for $2.99 but I don't really need to. This tablet has been fun for me, does just what I want for sketching little things as I watch night time tv, I can check my social media, mail and weather, but the battery doesn't last long. It's just a cheap tablet, but for now, it's fine.

Day 4 - Haunting

Ok, so today is day five and I'm going to try to paint something for Mab's Drawlloween Club art challenge. I'm loving the prompt FOREST SPRITE and I'll need all day, I'm sure. In the meantime, here are some more challenges by other artists who host such fun artistic challenges! Join in! NOBODY has to be the best artist in the world to do this, it's a challenge for fun, for learning, for sharing, for enjoying other artists work in a great way and it's all fun for everyone! NO pressure!

WATERCOLORS

WATERCOLORS are so beautiful, so popular now and so fun to create! Whether you are a traditional painter or digital painter, or both, (tradigital) where you paint and scan and then add effects using your computer art program, it's all WATERCOLOR BEAUTY!

I especially love funky, whimsical and abstract style watercolors. Loose floral paintings are quite popular and are harder to paint than you can imagine! To let yourself go and just let the paint flow, well, it's difficult until you really do understand HOW to watercolor paint.

What kind of materials you need, the types of watercolor papers, the best brushes (make all the difference) and the finest paints. Invest in the moderate priced supplies, you will save time! If you buy cheap paper and paint, you are going to end up not being happy with your results and end up buying the better quality supplies anyway!

I'm at the point where I would love those super expensive brushes, but I have trouble with them being from animals. Animals raised for fur, it's a hard thing to justify. So, I'm looking for the best synthetic, or 'man made' brushes I can find.

Don't let that burden you to the point of not painting! Even messing around at night, while watching the boob tube, we can use our watercolor paint brushes that hold water or use the brush style markers, or use our watercolor pencils!! Those are highly awesome and highly underrated! I love making a drawing and then adding water, to see where it goes.

The images you see here are from THE HUNGRY JPEG 'TROPICAL BUNDLE' that was on sale a couple of weeks ago, for $17 and oh my! What a great price on so much artwork!

This is the first set of graphics that I've EVER PURCHASED and I'm so glad I did!! I don't have enough time in my life to paint all of these gorgeous images so it's saving me time and it is so much fun to mix and match, to create my own designs using art from these talented artists! It's just like digital scrapbooking, using patterns for backgrounds, PNG files for making cute stickers, magnets, art for t-shirts, it's a joy!

HERE ARE SOME STICKERS that I created using these fine images! For sale at my Zazzle shop!

Here are some cute products that I created at my Redbubble shop!

Follow the simple TERMS OF USE!
See the TOU on their site, it's simple, just like mine! You cannot just use the images 'as is'!!!! You must create something new, combine other elements to create something different than what you received. So, instead of just plopping down an image and selling it, you must add something to it, like text or another image!

So, get started! Paint or use graphics from other artists who sell their art for a living, like I do at my Etsy shop! Enjoy the beautiful world of watercolors!
